The Seecom (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website theseecom.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have regarding your information when you visit or interact with our Site. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide Directly
When you use our Contact form or leave a comment on the Site, we may collect your name, email address, website (optional), and the content of your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry, manage comments, and improve our content.
b) Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, when you visit the Site we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, time and date of your visit, and other diagnostic data. This information is collected through server logs, cookies, and analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
c) Comments
When visitors leave comments on the Site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
2. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help a website function and to collect information. We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential cookies – required for core site functionality, such as remembering your cookie consent choice.
- Performance and caching cookies – used by our caching plugin to serve pages faster and improve site speed.
- Analytics cookies – used by Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site (see Section 3 below).
- Comment cookies – if you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience on future visits. These last for one year.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Site.
3. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to help us understand how visitors engage with the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form. This data helps us analyze traffic patterns and improve our content. You can learn more about how Google collects and processes data at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
4. Advertising and Third-Party Vendors, Including Google
We may work with third-party advertising companies, including Google, to serve ads when you visit our Site. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies (including Google’s DoubleClick DART cookie) to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at https://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/ or the Digital Advertising Alliance’s page at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/.
5. Affiliate Links Disclosure
Some links on the Site are affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and make a purchase or sign up for a service, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links on the Site may be identified by paths such as “/go/” or “/recommend/”. We only recommend products or services we believe may be useful to our readers, and our editorial opinions remain independent of any affiliate relationship. This disclosure is made in accordance with the FTC’s guidelines on affiliate marketing.
6. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Articles on the Site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or articles) or links to third-party websites we do not own or control, including the sites and services we review or write about. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you visited that other website directly — it may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.
7. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: operate, maintain, and improve the Site; respond to your comments, questions, and requests; understand how visitors use our content so we can make it more useful; detect, prevent, and address spam, fraud, or technical issues; and comply with legal obligations.
8. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Site (such as our hosting provider, caching and performance service, analytics provider, and spam-detection service), and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their services. If you request a password reset (for registered accounts, if any), your IP address is included in the reset email. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Seecom, our users, or others.
9. How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For any users who register on the Site, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile, which they can view, edit, or delete at any time (except their username). Contact form submissions are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to address your inquiry, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including using HTTPS encryption across the Site. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children’s Privacy
The Site is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
12. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR – EU/EEA/UK Visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure of your data; restrict or object to our processing of your data; and request a copy of your data in a portable format. If you have an account on this Site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it, except where we are legally required to retain it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 15 below.
13. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Where third-party advertising cookies are used for interest-based ads, this may be considered “sharing” under the CCPA; you can opt out at any time using the links provided in Section 4 above, or by contacting us directly.
14. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is currently no industry-standard way to respond to DNT signals, so our Site does not currently respond differently based on a detected DNT signal.
15. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or wish to exercise any of your data rights described above, please reach out to us through our Contact page.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
